North Country Dairy Farmer and NY-21 Candidate Blake Gendebien’s Statement on New Tariffs

Press Release

Lisbon, NY – Today, dairy farmer and congressional candidate for NY-21 Blake Gendebien issued the following statement on yesterday’s tariff announcement:

“I agree that increasing American manufacturing should be the goal of every administration, but that cannot come on the backs of hardworking families in the North Country. These tariffs will raise costs on food, fuel, and energy for the North Country, raising costs for families, farmers, and seniors who are already struggling to get by.

“As a dairy farmer, I’ve already been notified that the price of livestock feed is going up, and we aren’t the only ones bracing for rising costs. These tariffs mean uncertainty for farmers and  businesses and higher prices for everyone in our community.

“I am running for Congress because politicians in Washington have done nothing to lower costs in the North Country. Let’s focus on things that actually work to bring back American manufacturing: supporting our labor unions, investing in trade schools like the BOCES program, and building more factories in the North Country.”
